About Us

Welcome to Read2Lead

In 2014, Francisca Boateng and her colleague traveled to Ghana to teach public speaking and debate to young people across the country. During their time there, Francisca learned of the strong desire among young people for books and a library. Moved by this, she shared the need with her daughter, Samantha. Inspired by their conversations, Samantha began collecting books, and within a few months, she had gathered over 14,000. This sparked the idea to build a library, leading to the creation of Read 2 Lead.

While approximately 80% of Ghanaians aged 7 to 14 are literate, fewer than 25% possess foundational reading and numeracy skills. Furthermore, less than 12% of young Ghanaians have basic ICT/digital literacy skills. This is where Read 2 Lead steps in to make a difference.

Since its founding in 2016, Read 2 Lead has been dedicated to providing access to educational resources, literacy, and ICT training to students in Ghana starting from age 5. Today, we proudly support two libraries that serve over 10,000 students and their families, empowering them with the tools they need to succeed.

With every book opened, we unlock potential, empower communities, and shape a brighter future.
